    Vintage Thread Spool - Clark’s Red 8 O.N.T. Marking Cotton + Others

6 - assorted (maker unknown) partially used spools, originally 8 yds, several stained

The Clark Thread Company was a Scottish firm established in the 1750s that manufactured embroidery and sewing threads. In 1897, the Clark Thread Company merged with Coats to become Coats & Clark. Therefore, these spools of Clark should be before 1897.

Note: “O.N.T.” stands for “Our newly-released Thread” which Clark began using when they developed a thread designed for newer sewing machines that emerged in the mid-1800s.
