Hamilton has been established, top tier watch mfg for over 200 years. Starting w pocket watches and railroad chronometers made by hand in the USA, quality and beauty unparalleled by any watchmaker or company.
In the late 1950's, they stopped manufacturing their own in-house movements, moved to Switzerland to keep quality up and prices reasonable.
THIS WATCH, cal. Hamilton USA 982 is one of the final USA made high grade calibers designed for compact watches. Gorgeous design, solid gold jewel bearing caps, durability and accuracy make these highly desirable to collectors. This watch, "Bailey" circa 1952 is preserved incredibly well, dial and solid gold numerals very clean comparatively. Stored for a long time, outstanding example of a USA final Hamilton. Runs intermittently, crown will unscrew trying to set hands clockwise -has not been wound tight or tampered with. Excellent candidate for a restoration.
